[WOTA] On-site wastewater regeneration and circulation. A "small-scale, decentralized water recycling system" enabling water use independent of conventional water and sewage infrastructure.
Since its founding in 2014, WOTA has been dedicated to solving global water challenges, including resource scarcity and pollution. We develop "small-scale decentralized water recycling systems" powered by our proprietary "autonomous water treatment control technology." This technology maximizes the reuse of domestic wastewater.
WOTA leverages this technology across two primary business areas: Disaster Response and Residential.
・Portabel Water Business:
We developed the "WOTA BOX," a portable water recycling shower for emergency use during water outages, and "WOSH," a water recycling hand wash stand to improve public hygiene. During the 2024 Noto Peninsula earthquake, we deployed approximately 100 WOTA BOX and 200 WOSH units, covering 89% of evacuation centers in areas with prolonged water supply disruptions.
・Residential Business:
We are developing the "WOTA Unit," the world's first* residential water recycling system for everyday use. This system is currently being introduced to local governments and public agencies in Japan and abroad.
*Based on our research as the world's first system designed for mass production that meets the following criteria: 1) A small-scale, decentralized system for household use; 2) Recycles water from daily life (showers, handwashing, etc.); 3) Achieves a water reclamation rate of 90% or more; 4) Complies with WHO drinking water standards and Japan's drinking water quality standards under the Water Supply Act (51 criteria).

"WOSH", water recycling hand wash stand
〈Product Features〉
・Highly Efficient: Recycles over 98% of its water, enabling up to 500 handwashes with just 20 liters.
・Safe & Reliable: A proprietary control system continuously monitors water quality to ensure it meets WHO drinking water guidelines.
・Advanced Hygiene: Features a built-in UV sanitizer that disinfects a smartphone in 30 seconds while you wash your hands.
Ideal for daily use, WOSH provides a seamless handwashing solution for locations without easy water access, such as commercial facilities, restaurants, and outdoor events. For emergencies, it offers critical hygiene support when water supplies are cut off. Following the Noto Peninsula Earthquake on January 1, 2024, WOTA deployed approximately 200 WOSH units to evacuation centers, hospitals, and nursing homes.

"WOTA BOX", portable water recycling system
〈Product Features〉
・Water-Efficient: Recycles over 98% of used water, delivering up to 100 showers with just 100L of water.
・Safe & Reliable: A proprietary system continuously monitors water quality to ensure it meets WHO drinking water guidelines.
・Rapid Deployment: The compact, portable unit can be set up by two people in approximately 15 minutes.
For daily use, WOTA BOX is perfect for outdoor events like marathons and festivals. In disaster relief, it provides essential hygiene when infrastructure is damaged. Its portability and quick setup allow it to be deployed even in hard-to-reach areas, offering immediate and vital bathing access to those affected.

"WOTA Unit", residential water recycling system
*¹ See our press release from July 8, 2025.
*² Recycling rate may vary based on usage patterns and environment.
〈Product Features〉
・Off-Grid Capable: Reduces reliance on public utilities by recycling and reusing up to 97% of household wastewater.
・Guaranteed Quality: Continuously monitors water to ensure it meets Japan's drinking water quality standards under the Water Supply Act (51 criteria).
・Smart Management: A dedicated app displays real-time water quality and simplifies maintenance with notifications for tasks like filter replacement.
The system is modular and can be configured with three main units—① Drinking Water, ② Domestic Water, and ③ Toilet Water—to suit regional and facility needs. We are also developing a rainwater-based drinking water supply system.
Aging water and sewage infrastructure is a critical issue, especially in remote, mountainous, and island regions where municipalities face rising costs and reduced services. WOTA developed this system as a direct solution to these structural challenges. The WOTA Unit has already been deployed in several regions across Japan and is supplying water to homes in Antigua and Barbuda, a Caribbean nation facing chronic water shortages.
